1) Who processes your payment
All electronic payments on Propworths.com are processed by Peach Payments (Boabab Payments GmbH DBA Peach Payments (Pty) Ltd), a regulated South African payment gateway. Peach is PCI DSS Level 1 Certified, which is the highest level of payment-card data-security compliance available, and supports 3D Secure 2 authentication.
Peach is our payment facilitator. The contract for the goods or service you purchase (a listing fee, an advertising package, an auction commission, a buyer deposit, etc.) is between you and Propworths Global Property (Pty) Ltd. Peach is not a party to that contract and is not responsible for the underlying service.
2) Accepted payment methods
You can pay on Propworths.com using any of the methods Peach enables for your region:
- Credit & debit cards — Visa, Mastercard and American Express (including rewards-branded cards such as eBucks, Discovery Miles, UCount and Greenbacks issued on those networks).
- Apple Pay & Google Pay — biometric one-tap checkout on supported devices.
- Pay by Bank — instant EFT directly from your South African bank account.
Method availability depends on your country, your card issuer, and the listing's currency. If a method you expected to see is missing at checkout, your card scheme or bank has restricted it for that transaction.
3) Currencies and conversion
Propworths displays prices in the seller's listed currency and offers conversion to your home currency for comparison purposes. You are charged in the currency you confirm at checkout.
Propworths settles all merchant proceeds in South African Rand (ZAR). If you pay in a different currency, Peach (or your card issuer) performs the FX conversion at the rate applicable on the transaction date, which may include a small FX margin set by your bank / card issuer. Propworths does not charge a separate FX margin.
4) 3D Secure 2 authentication
Card transactions are protected by 3D Secure 2 (3DS2), an industry standard that verifies it's really you authorising the payment — usually with a one-time PIN sent to your phone or an in-app approval from your bank.
If your bank requires 3DS2 and authentication fails or is abandoned, the payment will be declined. Propworths and Peach do not see your 3DS2 PIN — it lives between you and your bank.
5) Saved cards and tokenisation
If you opt to save a card for future use, the card's primary account number (PAN) is never stored on Propworths.com and is never visible to us. Peach stores your card as a token — a meaningless reference number that only Peach and the card networks can resolve back to the card itself.
You can remove a saved card at any time from your account dashboard. Removing a card here removes the token Peach holds for Propworths; it does not cancel the card with your bank.
6) Pay by Bank — final and irrevocable
If you choose Pay by Bank, you authorise Peach to use your online-banking credentials to initiate a single EFT credit instruction from your account to the merchant account, for the exact amount and only for that transaction. Your credentials are encrypted in transit using industry-standard encryption and are not stored by Peach beyond the transaction.
EFT payments are final and irrevocable once submitted. If the underlying service is not delivered or you believe the amount is incorrect, your refund recourse is via Propworths — see Refunds & Disputes below — not by reversing the EFT.
7) Failed payments and retries
When a card transaction is declined, Visa and Mastercard issue a Merchant Advice Code that tells us whether the decline is temporary (e.g., insufficient funds, retry later) or permanent (e.g., card lost, stop trying). We honour these codes.
Please don't repeatedly retry a declined card — multiple declines in a short window can flag your account for fraud review at your bank and may trigger a temporary block. If a payment is declined, wait a few minutes, try a different card, or contact your bank.
8) Fees — what you pay vs. what we pay
You pay only the amount shown at checkout. Propworths covers the merchant service fee that Peach charges us; we do not pass it on to you as a separate surcharge.
Your bank or card issuer may apply its own fees (FX margin, international transaction fee, cash-advance fee on credit cards used at certain merchants). Those are between you and your bank — Propworths and Peach have no visibility into them.
9) Refunds
Refunds are issued by Propworths, not by Peach. If you need a refund, please contact us directly via charl@propworths.com with your order or transaction reference. We will review the request against the applicable service agreement (listing fee, advertising package, auction commission, etc.) and respond within 3 business days.
Approved card-payment refunds are processed back through Peach to the original card. You should see the funds in your account within 3–7 business days, depending on your bank. Pay-by-Bank EFT payments cannot be reversed automatically; approved refunds are sent as a manual EFT to the bank account you nominate.
10) Chargebacks and disputes
If you don't recognise a charge from Propworths, please contact us first at charl@propworths.com before filing a chargeback — we can usually resolve the issue faster than the chargeback process.
If you do file a chargeback, your card scheme will contact us via Peach for evidence. We may submit transaction logs, agreement records, IP and device data, and proof of service delivery. Filing a chargeback in bad faith (a "friendly fraud" chargeback for a transaction you actually authorised) is against your card-scheme rules and we will defend such cases.
11) Data protection (POPIA)
Propworths and Peach both process your payment data in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (POPIA). Card data (PAN, CVV, expiry) is collected, transmitted and stored only by Peach, under PCI DSS Level 1 controls. Propworths sees only the tokens, transaction outcomes, and the contact details you provided at checkout.
How we handle your personal information overall is set out in our Privacy Policy. How Peach handles the payment side is set out in their Privacy & Cookie Policy.
12) Liability
Peach's liability for any losses arising from a payment is capped at the transaction amount. Propworths' liability to you for payment-related losses is similarly capped, and we have no liability for losses caused by:
- Compromises of your own device, network or banking credentials.
- Incorrect information you provided at checkout (wrong card number, wrong currency, etc.).
- External disruptions outside our reasonable control (bank outages, card-scheme downtime, internet outages).
- Disputes about the underlying goods or services, which are governed by the relevant Propworths service agreement, not these payment terms.
13) Governing law and jurisdiction
These payment terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute arising under or in connection with them falls under the exclusive jurisdiction of the South African courts. This aligns with Peach's own governing-law clause.
14) Customer support
For payment questions, refund requests, or disputes: contact Propworths first at charl@propworths.com or via the in-app contact form. Most issues are resolved here.
For technical payment-gateway issues (e.g., Peach's 3DS2 verification page not loading): Peach support is available at disputes@peachpayments.com, via their support portal, or by phone on +27 (21) 200 5877.
15) Changes to these terms
We may update these payment terms when payment providers, methods, fees, or applicable law change. The Effective date at the top of this page always reflects the current version. For material changes, registered Propworths users will be notified by email at least 14 days in advance.
